Donald Trump has once again stated he would influence FIFA to relocate 2026 World Cup matches from a designated city based on the local governance, with Boston becoming the latest urban area to encounter such threats from the US president. Additionally, Trump remarked he would evaluate parallel steps against Southern California for the 2028 Olympics due to possible security concerns.

Even though Trump holds no official jurisdiction to directly relocate either event, he can lobby the respective governing bodies in charge of each event to change host cities.

Context of Remarks

His comments were made during a media briefing with Javier Milei, who was visiting the presidential residence following the announcement of a massive financial assistance for the South American country.
